According to the international news agency Al Jazeera, Sir Geoffrey Nice Roy, the eminent human rights lawyer of the Uyghur tribunal, said on Thursday (December 9th) that the Chinese government has imposed decisions such as birth control and infertility on the Uyghurs out of a spirit of genocide.
Nice added that “the tribunal has reasonably concluded that the People’s Republic of China, in order to exterminate the Uyghurs in Xinjiang, is imposing birth control measures and carrying out genocide.”
He led the prosecution in the war crimes and genocide cases against former Serbian President Slobodan Milosevic. Sir Nice added: “This process of state repression will never continue unless the plan of destruction is approved at the highest level.”
According to Al Jazeera, the tribunal has no official support and does not have the power to punish China for genocide. But experts say it could lead to a global democratic government blaming China for the genocide of the Uyghurs.
China has denied allegations of genocide, human rights abuses and sexual harassment in Xinjiang, calling the Uyghur tribunal “extremely enthusiastic.” At the same time, the country’s foreign ministry sees the ruling as a conspiracy by anti-China elements.
