The army shot dead 30 people and burned their bodies

Karenni human rights group says, on Saturday, they said in the city of Hipruso in the state of Kayah. Burnt bodies of displaced Myanmar people have been found in So village. The group strongly condemned the inhumane and barbaric killings in a Facebook post.

The army said it had killed the militants. The dead were in seven vehicles. They did not stop even though they were signaled to stop before the killing.

The images shared by human rights groups show more than 30 burnt bodies in three vehicles.

The border situation in Myanmar has been heated for a week. The junta has launched new airstrikes and heavy shelling in the border province of Karen. Myanmar’s pro-democracy group Karen National Union KNU said the military had carried out at least two airstrikes in the province on Thursday night. The town of Le Cay Kao was also shelled on Friday. A series of airstrikes has raised new concerns. Thousands of people are fleeing the Thai border to seek refuge.

In such a situation, Karen fighters have demanded the United Nations to declare the city of Le Cay Kao a “no-fly zone”.

Human rights groups say Myanmar’s military is carrying out a series of attacks aimed at destabilizing the country. They have offered to repatriate refugees who have fled to Thailand soon.
