Christmas-New Year festival in Italy

The meeting unanimously approved strict rules regarding the use of health passes and masks. The decree will take effect on December 24, the health minister said.

The decree temporarily bans public events and parties during the Christmas and New Year festivities. At a news conference, Health Minister Roberto Speranza confirmed that the government has decided to cancel Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations in small towns and cities across the country.

Under the new rules, it has been decided to reduce the time taken for the third or booster dose to five to four months. In addition, the administration has the power to further reduce the required time, the health minister said.

Many of the decisions in the new decree will take effect on December 24 and end on January 31. However, only a few measures will be effective until Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Nightclubs and dance venues will remain closed until January 31 to prevent omikron infection, said Roberto Speranza.

Tourist travel rules in Italy will not be affected by the new decree. The previous rules will be determined. The new decree will no longer cause suffering for international tourists, the health minister said.

New rules made last week have made it harder for tourists to travel to Italy. PCR tests are mandatory and for many 5 to 10 days home quarantine has been made mandatory.
