Earlier in the day, a bilateral meeting was held between President Ibrahim Salih and the Prime Minister. At that time Bangladesh and Maldives signed two MoUs and an agreement. Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was accorded a colourful welcome at the Maldivian President’s Office.
On the morning of the second day of her first visit to the Maldives, Sheikh Hasina arrived at the President’s Office and was greeted by members of the Presidential Guard in a military manner. The national anthems of the two countries are played according to tradition. There was also a song salute.
Ibrahim Salih and Sheikh Hasina enjoyed the performance of the cultural workers present at the reception. After that, the Prime Minister formally signed the inspection book of Rashtrapati Bhavan. Following the schedule, the two leaders held private meetings. Later, President Salih and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina led the delegations of the two countries in a formal meeting.
After the meeting, in the presence of the President and the Prime Minister, after signing two separate MoUs on recruitment of trained and skilled health workers from Bangladesh and the development of the youth and sports sector, the concerned ministers and officials exchanged them. At this time, Dhaka-Male has also signed an agreement for the withdrawal of dual tax.
Besides, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina also gifted 13 military vehicles to the island nation as a token of friendship during her visit. Later, the two top leaders addressed a joint press conference. The President of Maldives expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh.
