According to the notification, the total number of dengue patients admitted in government and private hospitals from January 1 to December 25 this year is 26,346. 104 of them died. Besides, 26,137 of the hospitalized patients have returned home healthy.
Earlier in 2019, the dengue outbreak took a deadly shape. That year, more than one lakh people were hospitalized with dengue. 189 people died. The second-highest death toll from dengue was in 2002, with 57 deaths reported by the Department of Health.
