Ershadul’s cousin Saifullah’s murder case was not settled out of anger. After arresting a man named Ashraful Islam Rabbi (38), the police could get details about the murder from him.

It is learned in the interrogation that Nazrul Islam, the accused in the Saifullah murder case, carried out the murder with his former acquaintance Rabbi.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime and Administration) Mollah Mohammad Shaheen of Brahmanbaria District Police confirmed the matter.

He said the rabbi was arrested from Bidyanagar area of ​​Kasba Upazila of the district on Sunday night. He tried to flee across the border to India. Rabbi is the son of Mominul Islam of the Kazipara area of ​​Brahmanbaria district town.

According to a police source, Ershadul Haque’s cousin Saidullah (30) was killed in 2019. Ershad filed a murder case against 20 people including Abu Nasir, a resident of Nandura village, and his son Nazrul Islam. The houses of Abu Nasir and Ershadul are sides by side. Ershad took Rs 60 lakh from the accused to settle the case. Nazrul got angry with Ershadul for continuing the case without compromising on money and planned to kill him. The court recently sent Nazrul’s father Abu Nasir to jail in the case. This leads to more anger.

Additional Superintendent of Police Mollah Mohammad Shaheen said Nazrul had a previous acquaintance with the rabbi. During police interrogation, he said the rabbi had been at Nazrul’s house for the past one month to avoid arrest after an arrest warrant was issued in a robbery case. As part of the pre-plan, Rabbi and Nazrul went to the spot on two separate motorcycles on the day of the incident. At first, the rabbi stopped the motorcycle carrying Ershadul. Nazrul later fired. Soon after the murder, Rabbi and Nazrul fled the scene and moved towards Brahmanbaria district town. Then they become separated.

It may be mentioned that Ershadul and Badal were shot dead by miscreants in Kurighar village of Natghar union on the night of December 16. Ershadul is the son of Natghar Union Parishad chairman Abul Kashem and Badal is the son of Santosh Sarkar of Nandura village in the union. Ershadul’s younger brother Mohammad filed a murder case against 15 people in this incident. Akhtaruzzaman.

According to Ershadul’s family, the killings were centered around the Union Parishad elections. Ershadul was supposed to contest for the post of chairman in this election. He also took care of various activities of the council due to his father’s illness.
